Location: SW North Dakota | What type of coffee pots do you use in your LQs? I just have a $10 Black and Decker, but it will lug my 7000w generator when it brews, and will sometimes trip the gFCI- even both air conditioners on at the same time don't pull on it that hard. I don't mind buying a $100 coffee pot, but coffee is NOT OPTIONAL! haha
My trailer is being serviced as we speak, so I asked him to check to see if it's in the trailer or if I should just chuck the pot and get a new one.
For curiousity sake, what are your choices for coffee pots? |

Location: Riding Crackhead. | I can't remember the brand of mine but its nothing fancy. It doesn't trip breakers by itself but it will if I run the a/c, blow dryer or a space heater at the same time as it. I think all that stuff just pulls hard |

| I had a mini Keurig that worked great, it was smaller than the countertop size, and tucked away easily. It didn't take that much power, as I recall I was able to make a cup of coffee by plugging it in to my truck's cigarette plug inverter when I got in a bind once. I know a lot of people like having pots of coffee at their disposal, but it suited me just fine.
ETA: there was no digital display or anything, it was just the plain Jane model.

Yes, it's the gfci, not the breaker (yet). They will check my gfci, and I'll pitch the little coffee maker. I had a kuerig, but I drink bulk coffee... |

This might be more of a pain than you're looking for, but I know Keurig makes reusable filter pods that you can put ground coffee in, and use your own coffee. My parents use that, and depending on where they're going, my mom will either bring the big bag of coffee or put it in individual baggies for each cup. |

| We have a 5500w or 6500w (don’t remember, big heavy sucker I can’t wait to get mounted on the roof so I don’t have to muscle it around) generator and our $10 coffee pot runs fine while also running the AC or the Microwave. The generator only kicks the breaker if we run the AC and the microwave at the same time, and even then usually only if the microwave is on and the AC kicks on if I remember correctly...it’s been a while because I’m just in the habit of shutting the AC off for a few minutes.
My inlaws run the same style coffee pot on a 3-3400w generator and I don’t believe they have issues either.
I agree I’d check the GCFI and get a new $10 coffee pot - if it was pulling too much on the gen you’d be tripping the whole gen at the generator not at the single item. |

| I can never make a good pot of coffee, lol, so I use an electric tea pot and instant coffee single packs at home and in my horse trailer. Quick and ez and no grounds to mess with. |

| I just buy the Folgers's coffee singles and make a cup in my microwave, but it is just me. I am not making it for multiple people and I am usually one cup and done. But it's easy, no waste, no need for a pot. |

| It is the surge of peak power to heat the heater ring that is blowing your
gfic plug in ...
Try a 4 cup MR COFFEE drip grind coffee maker ...
you can also get stainless steel pots instead of glass ..
Stop acting like you are at home and shut something down when you
turn on ac, microwave, or kitchen appliances .. there is a nano second
of surge that harms everything online when you turn on too many things.
Don't forget LQ's have house fridges and they are on all the time .. same
with anything with a remote ... it's called ghost power usage ..
works for me ... |

no it's not
if the GFI is triping there is a ground fault somewhere or the plug is bad.

No I will not stop doing that, I don’t like going outside and resetting the breaker on the generator, usually in my jammies pre shower, because I decided I couldn’t live without AC while I warmed up leftovers for breakfast.
Sorry, my real life experience is going to trump your suggestion (again).
Maybe we do have an issue with the generator, maybe when we do invest in a new one we’ll be able to do it your way, but it works for now. |

I love coffee pressed coffee!! I was going to suggest "Cowboy" coffee where you just pour the hot water over the grounds, but the press is so much cleaner....and contained. |
