Location: Northwest | My sister in law is obsessed with ordering her groceries through Walmart online. She then schedules a time to go “pick them up” and she’s done. She drives to some special door at Walmart, at her designated time, and the Walmart people load her car up for her. She never even has to get out of her car. I think it’s a cool service for disabled and elderly, BUT I personally think that is the epitome of lazy for able-bodied people (no offense to those who also do this).
Edited to add: she got my in-laws started on the idea too but we don’t have a Walmart near where we live that has the service like she does. So they order at Walmart online and have their groceries SHIPPED to them. Ummm...when they told me that on that particular day I was there, they had received four different boxes, each with one can of green beans and a huge amount of packing material (and apparently they’ve received numerous items packaged this way), it was all I could do to not let them know what I REALLY thought. What a waste.

Location: Deep South | I'm a huge fan of the WalMart grocery pick-up. Has nothing to do with being lazy and everything to do with being busy. It's a time-saver thing for me. And with my husband and me both leaving the house before 7am and usually getting home after 8, anything we can do for convenience is a win! I order them online usually while I have some down time at work or on my lunch break. Then swing by and pick them up on my way home. Pick-up usually takes 5 minutes vs the hour to hour and half that I would spend in the store. I've noticed that it also saves me money, because I have to make a list of the things I actually need and I don't make impulse purchases like I would in the store. I keep a lot less junk in the house.

| I used Meijer. Order online and then go pick up. It was great. It helped a lot because I commuted 120 miles per day and last thing you want to do is stop and grocery shop. Luckily, I am closer to home now. |

She also has all her diapers, toilet paper and formula shipped to her house.

I've opted for Pantry Prime so there is no shipping charge and it comes right to my garage and only have to pack it in the house and put away. I like it so far.  |

I just looked up the coffee we buy...holy crap 50% of the price...
I get conflicted right - I live in a smallish town. Walmart and the other 2 grocery stores employ a lot of people compared to having the same items shipped in. I know it’s not shopping local persay, but it makes me feel good I guess to support stores that support our community?
That being said if I could chop my grocery bill in half we could put more money into other local places like the lumber yard doing house and barn additions etc... |

Location: Where Tall Corn Grows | I still go to the brick and mortar store for perishable items so I keep some business in local stores. If Amazon can sell the same product for a fraction of the price, how badly are we being gouged? I agree, we can save enough money to help strengthen the economy in other businesses other than grocery stores. |

| I just used Wal-Mart Pickup last night for the first time! I LOATHE shopping--okay, shopping for horses and tack is a whole other story--but I DESPISE grocery shopping.
My 85 yr old mother is now house-bound. I ordered her groceries and mine at 2am and picked them up the next day. I didn't even have to leave the car. It saved me HOURS. I LOVED it. My time is precious right now (elderly mother, disabled brother...) so being able to order online and pick it up in five minutes is HUGE. :-)
Sam's Club and other stores have similar services. And Amazon Prime is awesome. Well worth it. I probably won't have to step into a store for months! |

| I actually work for Kroger and I do this, the last thing I want to do when I get off is grocery shop. I know a lot of folks worry about who is doing your shopping when it comes to perishables, but we actually have mom's that do a lot of customers shopping. We have 2 school crossing guards that come in and work during school hours. we actually added jobs when we started this service. |

We buy a lot thru Amazon Prime, but I've never bought groceries. So I have a question---can you buy perishables thru them? We're at least 45 minutes from closest W-M, so this could help during busy times! |

| I was talking to a gal in QT about the grocery order pick up and some MAN said, "that's just one more way to be lazy" and you know, I thought, "I'll bet HE isn't the one in his household that goes to the store!" I haven't done it yet because I like to touch and pick stuff, but man, if I had little ones, worked full time and this could save me an hour and a half a week, I would be ALL over it. |

Location: CTX | Still up on the fence about it. I can see it working for people that are short on time, or with multiple kids.... (not having to wrangle 2 or 3 of them while getting stuff done..)
But I always like to see the exp date and such... look at the packages....
I do order a lot from Amazon, but mostly non perishables. |
