I was wondering your thoughts on saddles with a higher rise. I have problems getting thrown forward when rating and feet go behind me. I know all about the seat size, shorten stirrups for this issue etc. Do you think a higher rise would help with this issue? I was thinking it would rock your hips back and may help. any opinions or experience with this would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe it's your brand of saddle? What brand of saddle do you ride in?

My Crown C threw me forward a lot and made it difficult for me to really sit down like I wanted to at my rate point. I didn't go with a "high rise seat" I actually went the opposite and bought a Double J which, in my opinion, has a flat ground seat. It allows me to roll my hips under myself and keep my feet slightly forward.

Which make of saddle comes with a high rise seat other than Caldwell? They are the only ones I'm familiar with.

Ive had a number of different saddles. Martin, Ammerman, Sibley, Tammy etc... It's her style and I admit i don't have the abs I use but it happens in all of them.
I am waiting for my Burns to arrive next week.

Ive seen others with a high rise seat.  I think the C3 has one. I am having a Burns made with the high rise. Hoping it helps!

I had a cactus that was like that and it did the same! Rolled me forward on my crotch going into a barrels and flinging me backwards leaving a barrel. I hated it and sold it 6 months! I prefer a flat seat high pommel high cantle. So I went back to a Josey! About to purchase another saddle and looking at a double j or another Josey.

Any saddle can be custom made with a higher rise seat, but it isn't the answer, the higher rise seat will push you forward.

If you are having issues tie your stirrups ahead, try a Martha Josey saddle, work on strengthening your core

I have the same issue with my gelding. I’m ordering a C3 after trying one. One, it freed up his shoulders and he didn’t feel as droppy in his turns, which helped me. They have a 9” front on them and I didn’t feel like I could have gotten ripped forward if I tried, but I never felt stuck in a pocket in the saddle either.

why would it throw you forward? i would think it would roll your hips back and your feet more forward. What am I not getting here?

That's good to know that you felt secure and wasn't going forward. I swear my mare goes up and then drops down on her front end. no hock issues etc. just her style. I'm hoping my new burns helps. If nothing else they are hella nice saddles!. I may have to ties my stirrups forward
