Location: Louisiana | OK...big sigh (LOL)...I love my treeless, BUT I would love to be able to find something else that actually fits my gelding. But I dread the thought of saddle-fitting.
I can get pics later, but I'll try to describe him.
He's 16hh, and built kinda odd to put it nicely. Not the best conformation (I always tell my vet-I definitely did not pay for good conformation haha).
He is built downhill/butt-high. Has a decent wither-pretty average for a running bred horse.
Flat side to side across his back, but not wide, if that makes sense. He has a healthy filled-out topline.
Big shoulders. That's his problem area, and where I had issues before the treeless.
I got lucky and he liked the treeless, and I bought one, never tried a ton of saddles to try to fit him.
Any ideas on possible trees to try? I had a Billy Cook with a Buster Welch tree on him before and it was too tight in the shoulders on him, if that helps at all.
I think a lot of the issue is how he's built downhill. Ideas? Preferably something I can pick up used under $1800? |

If you can up your budget a bit look into the C3’s, they were designed with what people love about treeless saddles in mind in terms of security etc while also fitting a wide range of horses. I talked a lot with Chery on FB before ordering mine today.
I would LOVE to try one!! Love how they look. Something in that range I’d have to try out and make a run in before I ordered it. |
