My barrel horse was recently injured, had a vet out to do X-rays and the result was a fracture in the hock and ruptured cranial ligaments. The advice given was to soft cast or go into surgery. We chose to get a few other opinions. Two other vets said with time it should heal. We have been doing sweat wraps on the leg and started him on previcox. Have not had any further advice from vet so wondering if anyone has had any experience with these injuries and can give any advice or just share their story? Hopeful that one day the horse may be able to ride again! Thanks in advance!!

Are those bone chips floating around on the right side of the joint? I would think a surgery might be beneficial to clean that up if so, but I haven't heard much about these. I think that Frenchmans Future mare of Jordan Briggs that was so good fractured a hock. But whatever she did, she isn't riding sound anymore.
