Would like thoughts from those that use these and compare products. My vet told me I should keep my 7yr old gelding on Adequan after I get his hocks injected for the first time...he said Pentosan is also good but it's not FDA or whatever term I forget approved. If it's cheaper than adequan I don't really care if it has the same effect! Any good proof or evidence which is actually the best bang for our buck? Thanks.
There is a really long thread on here from a couple years ago. Just do a google search “ adequan polyglycan pentosan barrel horse world” it will bring it up. Lots of reading.

I've used Adequan with great results but have switched to Pentosan per vet recommendation, also great results. Pentosan is FDA approved just not for what your wanting/using it for. They've used it in Europe for years with great success.

What do you mean when you say not what Im wanting to use it for? Isn't it very similiar to Adequan? I'm new to injecting ANYTHING so I'm wanting to research. Thanks

I just meant using it to help support injections is an off label use for it not approved by the FDA. I'm guessing that's what your wanting based on your question. Sorry to confuse you.
I’ve used all 3 at different times- I never could see any difference- the one thing that I would highly recommend is to go to dr schells web page just put curost in the search engine it will pull up nouvelle - and look at the articles dr Schell has - he has tons and tons of research - I’ve battled with inflammation in my boys hocks stifles si or coffins just always seemed as though I was constantly doing some kind of therapy to help them- the expense the time the chiro or vet visits or massages on and on and on- finally I took the advice of dr Schell ( I emailed him gave him my info) and he told me what to feed ( whole oats and alfalfa) and his supplements I was a bit concerned about the whole oats as I have one that I’ve dealt with ulcers for a long time but I took his advice anyway because everything else only masked the symptoms for a short period of time then we had to try something else- so finally I just did exactly what he said and I can tell you it is the best thing I’ve done for my boys period!- his products are very pricey- BUT I guarantee you I have actually saved $ in the long run and don’t have to use drugs or stuff to fix this or that ( bleeding) (ulcer) and praise God no inflammation- and my horses just keep improving!
