Looking to get my mare swam this spring at a training facility. They have a pool - how many times do you get them swam per week? per month??? Never done this before, thank you!

i LOVE swimming my horses. I dont take them to a facility, we just have a pond that comes off a natural spring behind the barn and it gets deep enough to where they cant touch so i do a few laps when its warm enough for me to handle lol. I would never swim an out of shape horse because they are so powerful when they are swimming and i know a girl that blew her horses stifle out by swimming her horse too hard too soon. Once they are in somewhat of shape i start with 5-10 mins, but thats also troting in the water and loping, i only do a couple passes where they cant touch and i just keep building from there as they get in shape. I know itll be different because youre taking them somewhere but i know ppl that have started with just 1-2 laps and they do that twice a week and build from that.
