My "new" horse I got in August/September is a cow horse wonderfully broke, a good foundation, and uses a bitless bridle (I have some really good ones specific to cutting, just can't remember the name of the website we got them from). Anyway, I would like to play around on barrels with him this summer, and would like to see if he takes to it. If he does, what types of bitless bridles are out there that are good for barrel racing or that you can attach barrel reins to? He is neck reined. If he needs a basic snaffle, etc I will go that route. Just curious what anyone with horses trained this way does or uses?

Either a hackamore or a sidepull I would think.. Edit to add: send Clampitt a pm and ask him about their hackamore's he makes them custom for what your horse needs.

What about a light little s hackamore with a leather noseband or just a regular leather or rawhide noseband sidepull?

For hackamores, my personal favorite is a Little S Hackamore.

Oh thank you for the suggestions everyone!! That really helps out a lot. I'm all for going as minimal as possible if it works so I hope that one would work for him, and really think it will. I don't have facebook but I do remember messaging him briefly a long time ago when I did have facebook and hear great things about his work!! He's such a great boy. He was given to me by an old farmer who pulled him out of the field after 2-3 years of being with his beef cows. He was originally bought for his granddaughter but she's busy with school. He was fat, hair matted, feet not done, and he thinks he's a cow!! But he immediately remembered lunging when I tried it and barely bucked when I rode him..I can check cows on him, open gates on his back, etc. So blessed for my guy!! Brag over! Lol

I love the BOZO sidepull hack for those types of horses, one of my go tos. The S hack is the lightest hack they make I believe

This little horse looks very familiar...
I put 60 days of ranch work on a horse that looked very similar to this guy. Guy gave him to his grandaughter after I put 60 days on him.  He was 5 when I had him. Grandad wanted him broke to a bitless bridle....
Sure sounds familiar!
Really cool little horse if it's the same one!
