This is how we do it too. I would love to have all the control, but he controls the checkbook when it comes to buying and I do when it comes to selling |

Chasing rabbits here but: The only time I've ever not put my name on a horse was when my Dad bought me my heart horse when I was younger. I put his name on her papers as a surprise for him since I was a brat about getting me another horse. He traded 2 of our best heifers and $500 for her and he worked hard for that extra money... It was my way of saying we had a partnership in her, a thank you if you will. Me saying I realize what you did for me and I appreciate you. He still tears up when someone asks if she's his or mine on paper. LOL He has a hard time getting through that explaination without tears, and my Daddy doesn't cry for anything! She Was a big turning point in our relationship when I was a stubborn teen. |

And that story sums you up in a nutshell to me. . . . |

Location: Washington | Husband and I started buying before we married so most are in his name or mine. We've had a joint account for purchases after we married and I'd love to have all in both our names but not paying the AQHA fees to transfer everyone. So all colt born from mares are in who ever owns the mares name lol I also handle all the paperwork and money, so guess they are all really mine?! |

| For now, I’m the only one listed on the papers, but when we get an LLC started for our horse breeding business, we will list them under that.
When we opened our joint bank accounts, our banker told us NEVER to use and/or on any paperwork, because even though it says ‘or’, the ‘and’ still implies that both people named (legally) have to sign the paperwork. So we have everything written ‘or’, so if one of us is busy or out of town, we only need the one signature.

| My horses are listed in both of our names. My husband paid for my gelding, and we split my filly. But both have both names. |

| AQHA requires only one signature whether horse is registered with an AND or an OR .... |

In return, we buy, restore, and sell cars, trucks and motorcycles, and those all go in his name. |
