I haven't tried them, but I went to the booth at vegas and she gave me the demonstration! it was really amazing!
she had a piece of fabric in the slow cooker on high in water, so it was really hot, she shook it out and it was instantly cool!

I want to get a blanket I think for hauling! but how long do they stay cool for?

I have the leg wraps. Best things ever!! I put mine in cold water and let them soak, after my ride I wrap her front legs with them. They work awesome on cooling them down.

I have two pair of polo wraps and the hock wraps.  So easy to use.  I wet mine and put them in the melted ice water in the bottom of my cooler.  After I run, I get them out squeeze the excess water out, shake them a little and wrap.  They generally stay cold as long as they are wet.  If they start drying out and you want to leave them on longer, just wet them down again.
