| Putting them under lights is about it. Make them think it's daylight even when it's dark outside. That's what triggers the shedding, the light cycle. |

Location: South Georgia | Under lights (bright enough to read a newspaper in each corner of the stall), blankets, etc. You have to trick them into thinking the days are long. I showed APHA halter for several years.
Also, to actually remove the hair as it sheds, we used a Shop Vac. It sucks up the dirt, hair, and brings oils to the surface. Amazing.

| We will "sweat" a horse starting a couple months before we want to show them. |

Location: Smack Dab in the Middle | Lights...but I wouldn't call it quick. You have to trick their system...which takes strict consistency and several weeks to see results.
Best bet is probably body clipping--with lights, and lots of grooming/blanketing etc. That will take the fluff off and the lights will help get new hair to start. It will still take a little while to get the hair to not look clipped, but time wise this will be the fastest. |

| There's a shot your vet can give them. Not sure what it is but we did it last summer with one that haired up from EPM.

Location: North Dakota | Lights and it takes 2-3 months in the past for my mare who was put under lights late into winter to start shedding.

| I've kept my horses blanketed and used pumice stones to brush the horses and it slicks them off pretty darn quick, especially in the spring when they start shedding. You can use the small ones, or get big ones from restaurant supply stores and they work really well. They're really cheap also.

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | Lights and blankets. I can't imagine sweating one out. In WY that would be a recipe for disaster, as well as how bad the sweat is for their hair coat and if they ever got a chill from being damp. I have never heard of that one before. |

Yes this is what I was wondering. It's a DMSO solution and for the life of me I can't remember the concentration/dilution. The DMSO relieves the inflammation from the EPM. Was hoping for some Halter peeps to share.

Yeah I am not sure either, I have heard from some friends that there's aresenic in it too lol. But if you have a good show horse vet around you he will know.
