I've been reading up on club foots and a possible way to help your horse out is to stretch them out and have a professional massage therapist come out. I don't want to massage my horse and accidentally hurt him and do more harm, but I'd like to learn. Any book or DVD recommendations? Also with stretching are there any good sites to learn from or any good books and/or DVDs as well? I know I few but honestly I'm a little rusty.

My best friend is a certified Equine massage therapist. She went to school down in florida for 10 weeks and shes taught me soooo much. My horses love when she works on them and i can see a huge difference in their performance. I would definitley see if you can have someone come out and show you instead of just reading. Shes showed me a ton of things that i can do on my own for my guys but theres also a lot that i wouldnt want to try just because i dont know all of the muscle groups like she does and to much pressure can hurt and not enought doesnt do the job in some areas. Theres also certain ways to apply the pressure in certain directions and so on. Im more of a hands on learner so her showing me helped me the most instead of her just telling me. Plus my boys love the practice lol

When my mare got injured 2 years ago, I took a massage therapy course to help with her muscle compensation. she was so full of knots. Anyway, just make sure the stay away from the bones. Efflurage is pretty safe and helps with circulation.

OhMax - 2018-02-09 7:12 AM I have the Masterson Method dvd, I’ve thought about getting certified through his program as well to make some entry fee money on the side.
I have thought about getting certified as well, or at least take the Home Study Course. Through the books and dvd's, I now look at my horses with a whole new set of eyes.
