Psalm 116:7 Return to your rest,my soul, for the Lord has been good to you.
The Bible promotes the value of hard work, but also makes it clear that we need physical rest. Genesis 2:3 and God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from alll the work of creating He had done. Later, Jesus explained a different kind of rest we DESPERATLY NEED... soul rest. In Matthew 11:28-29 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
He invites us to become yoked together with Him and learn from Him. Once we accept Christ's unconditional love and become His, our approach to life changes. Our past is forgiven,, our future is secure, and His loving presence guides us each day. And then we can finally enjoy the DEEP,, REFRESHING Soul REST He offers....
For it is WITH God ALL things ARE possible. Mark 10:26
Father God, guide me today to do all things that will bring glory and honor to You Amen

This is so good. It's aligns with the sermons at our cowboy church this year. We live in such a busy/noisy world that we don't get the physical rest much less the spiritual rest that is required.
My husband and I are TRYING to make a conscious effort to take that day of rest seriously.. We probably get 3-4 hours but it's better than what we were doing. It's helped circle back to us and what path we want to walk down instead of running to go do something with friends.
