| The additional space in the LQ is nice too if you aren’t going to get a slide out. Smallest horse gets the short straw and rides over the “hump” - my little horses poop doesn’t even hit the wheel well usually so I don’t think he has any issue with it. If I was hauling all huge horses I might have a different opinion, idk. |

| I have an 8 foot wide with 2 mangers, and the extra space is extremely noticeable compared to my friends 7 foot wide trailer with no managers. In the living quarters it give so much more floor space since I don't have a bump out, and I have small hanging closets on either side of the bed which helps a lot. In the horse area, it makes the rear tack bigger, and I store so much stuff in the mangers. Plus the horses have extra room, I have never had any problems with the hump on the back side of the horse area. My trailer is lined so its easy to clean off. I will not go smaller that 8 feet wide again. |

| We have an 8 foot wide with two mangers and we love it. A friend of ours has a 7 foot with mangers and the horses are stuffed in it it seems. Also, our trailer has a 60/40 split in the back so the horse door is a little wider than the tackroom door and it makes a world of difference when loading. Another one of our friends has an 8ft wide that is 50/50 in the back and when I loaded my horse in the back slot I felt like I was pinned against the wall. A 60/40 8ft wide is the way to go! |

Location: Ohio girl moved to PA | I agree with the others, 8ft is the way to go. My friend has a 7ft with mangers and when we haul together i feel super crammed during loading and my little 14.3 compact guy doesnt have much room. Im currently trailer shopping and this is one of my must haves. |

If the stalls are angled properly then they have just as much room in a 7 wide with mangers as an 8. Same for 6 wide. I had a 6 wide with mangers and they had plently room. But the stalls were angled properly.
But I would never have anything but an 8 wide again. Mainly for the room in the LQ. And also resale value. It's really hard to sell a 7 wide today. |

| I got a 7'6" wide trailer last year and noticed the difference in the concentration required while driving over my old 6'9" wide trailer. Off tracking is something many, if not most, people don't study or understand. Having driven a dump truck and 22" trailer, I HAD to understand this. If you don't understand off tracking you'll end up in a ditch or over the line on small and twisty roads.
As far as roomy-ness the 7'6" trailer is a lot nicer! I hauled with my trainer back in 2009 in his 8' wide trailer with mangers and I don't think the horses were any different as far as slant angle and room. |

i also think part of it had to do with my trailer not having mangers and and it felt soo roomy. then getting into hers just felt crammed. As far as the stalls being angled properly, idk bout that lol she has an 02 hart and i have an 02 Keifer, i never looked at the angles lol
i agree with you thought in the LQ part. Hers is tiny, literally were stuffed once we both need it. but its just us girls and the pup so we make it work when we have to haha |

Location: North Dakota | I don't have mangers in my trailer so my 7 foot (not LQ) trailer works just fine.
If I ever were to have a trailer with mangers, I would only consider getting an 8 foot.
So I think it kind of depends on your trailer design.

We are looking for a used 4 horse and haven;t seen many 8ft wide trailers. |

Location: Southern Indiana | Yes it’s that much better! My horses hate my 7’ wide bumper pull! They are much more comfortable and not squeezed in the 8’ wide LQ. I would choose an 8’ over 7’ anyday!! I would not own a LQ any narrower.
The wheel well hurts nothing except being a pain to clean the poop off of. And it still gives them more butt room in those stalls. |

8' wide is the only way to fly
It's length of the trailer that causes over-tracking. I have a CDL and drove 53' semis. During testing we had to make sure when we turned 90 degree corners that we kept the rear trailer tires inside the outside white line or you were penalized. I also think it depends on axle placement and where you have your hitch or 5th wheel. I have a 3 horse bumper pull that is the same length as a 3 horse GN I had, and have to swing a little wider with the BP. |

Location: Stephenville, TX | As to the OP's question, I wouldn't go any smaller than a 7'6" like others said, resale value. Also, if you have a small weekender type LQ-6-8 ft. SW, your 8 wide would give you that extra room. |

We have owned both ...... it all comes down to the slant of the stalls ....Both of our trailers (7' & 8') had mangers and horses were not cramped in either ..... That being said, the 7" was much easier to pull because of being able to see around the trailer .... |

I feel more confident pulling into tight spots at gas stations and stores. Yes I WISH I had mangers with storage but I make due with my other stalls. I usually only haul 1 horse and I use my other 2 stalls for storage. Living compartment is perfect size for me and hubby. We have an awning on the trailer and spend 90% of our time outside. I specifically looked for one that was 7ft and got an awesome deal. |

Here’s where I have trouble understanding where you’re coming from: the axles are the same width. We have narrow roads here too—less than 16’ in spots—but since the tires track the same I don’t see how it matters. You can see behind you better with the 7, but that doesn’t change how it fits. |

Location: in the ozone | I've had LQ trailers in 7', 7 1/2' & 8' wide - and definitely prefer at least 7 1/2' wide. Both the wider trailers had mangers, but stall slants were great so even the longest horse had plenty of room & could also put their head down to clear airways too. The big difference is in the LQ - LOVE that extra bit of room! (also love the under manger storage too!) |
