I am purchasing a weanling from NE and I'm in TX. I don't know if I want to drive to get it or have it shipped to me.
I know there are some times you can find a ride share with someone, but have heard horror stories. I've also heard horror stories about actual haulers.

Does anyone have a recommended hauler? If I end up getting him/her sent to me I wanna check them out early and know it will work out. I am excited and also trying to plan ahead.

Most haulers are horrible.  I'd just drive.

With all the crazy stories about shippers I would just go and pick up my horse myself so there would not be any worry's and second quessing myself on the shipper.

Sandy Turmel is excellent. She lives in Ct but hauls all over the U.S. and is in Tx a lot. She is on Facebook

For a weanling I’d probably grab a stock trailer and a friend to help drive and go get it myself. At that age I’d rather haul loose in a stock trailer personally.

Theres wayyyy too many horror stories going around right now. A local girl just had a huge issue with her shipper, had to get law involved and everything. Finally, found the horse and shes home safe, but my goodness... I would just and pick up if you can.

If you can do it yourself I would do that. With all the horror stories going around I would just do it myself. And like someone mentioned, use a stocktrailer for a weanling if you have the option.

Jackie Whitcher.  She hauls back and forth from TX to SD all the time.  She's on FB.  I recommend her.

Jackie isn’t far from me and a friend used her to bring a colt down from SD a few years ago and was very happy! Poor Jackie had to leave a day early and haul straight through to stay ahead apf a snow storm, but he came off the trailer happy and healthy. I don’t know why I didn’t think about her!

I would love to go get him/her myself with a friend. We had actually planned on it but where I work there are only 3 of us in the office and end of September when mare owner said she is releasing foals and all vet bills, etc. after that are mine is when my boss and co-worker will be in Canada for a conference. It would end up being a turn around weekend trip and it’s 14 hour drive non-stop according to Siri. That would make for a LONG weekend.

See if they could wean a week earlier or later or just hold her for a week until it works for you. I would really recommend you pick up yourself, especially a weanling.

If you want things done your way, do them yourself.
