| I need a saddle to fit my little paint 14.2 950lb. High withers. Not wide short back. A standard martin racer was too wide and too flat of bars. I found a nice Shiloh jp contender. Might that work? It’s 6 3/4 gullet.
Someone said I need to try a double Lynn McKenzie special but I cannot find a used one in my price budget. I’ve never rode in a contender.

Agree...fits my high withered mare nice, but not my flat backed mare. |

| I have a little 15 hand mare with medium(?) withers (not high, not flat). I have a 7” contender and it’s too wide for her. Very sad because it sits ME perfectly. I love love love the saddle but am going to have to sell it. |

Love the Contenders but in my experience, the 6.75 gullet has Full QH bars and that will be too wide for the horse you described. The 6.5 gullet with QH bars would be my pick for that horse. |

ok I was a little worried about that. I have never had one but just by looking online they looked a little wide. I grabbed a used bob marshall and actually it was the first saddle i cinched up that he didn't pin his ears and want to get fresh with! so maybe i'll be using it until i find a treed one that will fit! |

| Check out the Martin BTR. A friend of mine has one and it fits a smaller, narrower horse. Also a Caldwell Pro Racer should work for your horse.

I do have a 6.5 14" that I'd sell for $1450 shipped - I've been holding onto it because I love it and the way it rides but I sold the horses it fit and my current herd are all beyond wide. Message me if you'd like more info. |

What saddle did you choose for your wide horse? My contender is pinching mine too |

I bought a Martin Saddlery Stingray about a month ago, and it works great for my wide flat backed horse, and also works good for my higher withered mare. |
