I know I only have a couple of days left to make a decision on going to BBR finals or not. I have a question for locals. Do any of you that are close just haul in on the days you need to and not stay over night. I was just wondering if it is possible at a show this large and how easy it is if it possible. I am a little over an hour away and would prefer to just drive back and forth. I would only be taking one horse.
I'm not local, but Sharin Hall stated that she had some barn space to rent out that was like 30 minutes, so an hour each way wouldn't be much farther. My horses are WAY happier when we come home for the night, so I don't see why yours would be any different, and mostly likely way cheaper at a big event like that!
I live 2 hours away and usually just hauled in. The only reason I sayed overnight was if I drew up late one day and early the next. I just stayed at a barn over by Remmington. Super quiet and large stalls with turn outs.
I was thinking he would be much happier staying in his own pen, just really wanted to see if anyone had done it and it was possible. I never haul more the 2 hours away really and don't spend the night anywhere. I stay pretty local and never ran at anything with more the 300 or so entries, so something as big as BBR is a little scary.
I have not been to the BBR but I have been to many huge shows and I would definitely haul in and go home anytime I was close enough to make that possible.
Yea anytime I am within 60-90 mins I haul in every day. Anything longer than that I usually stay the night. At home they are on a pasture 22 hours of the day. So if possible I just bring them home where I feel they are more comfortable. Doesn't matter how big or small the show is. Less stress on them from being stuck in a 10x10 stall all of a sudden, and also less chance of catching anything that might be going around. (I do desinfect the stalls if I stay overnight)
