Have any of you heard or tried the weighted blankets that I've seen ads for as of lately? The are supposed to be effective in helping with anxiety, insomnia, ptsd.
Looking for any reviews people have on it and what brands you have.

I would think they would work- when I was little and had anxiety I would pile on heavy quilts. There is something soothing about all that weight. I suppose it works in a similar way to a Thunder Shirt for dogs.

One of my favorite blankets to sleep under when I was a kid was a heavy crocheted quilt that my grandma made - I liked it specifically because it was heavy!!!

Now I won’t use those because the dogs sleep with us from time to time and I don’t want their nails hooking them :(

Makes total sense to me!

I cant speak for those, specifically, but I do like heavy blankets when I sleep. It does make me feel more relaxed and secure. I don't know if that's just a personal preference thing or if it is becuase I'm an anxiety-ridden whack job. lol

I would like to have one, as I suffer from pretty bad anxiety, but the blankets are just so darn expensive

At Dreamhug they are having a winter sale with 50% off and on Instagram they also posted a 20 dollar coupon too. I didn't realize how expensive they were!
On instagram the account was ashleybridgetco.

I've seen them used with kids with Autism.  The weight comforts them like a hug, but since they don't like people, it works well to lesson their stress.

I've seen some on Etsy, amazon for much cheaper even with their sale they have going on right now. Looking into purchasing one.

I’ve never thought about trying heavy blankets because I’m so hot natured. But my mom is a dentist and those heavy lead blankets they put on you to take X-rays have always had a comforting feel to me. Don’t know if comforting is the right word. I’m not sure how to explain it. But I like it.

I’m getting one of the heavy heavy ones. I love the security I get from a weighted blanket. I stay asleep better through the night.

People with anxiety or PTSD have often found comfort in dogs when they lay over the top of them. It's not so much as having a dog lay over you as it is the feeling the weight of their body gives a person.
Ambulances carry weighted blankets for children or people who need to be calm while riding.
The weight grounds you. When you put this blanket on look around you and identify 5 things you see, 4 things you feel, 3 things you hear, 2 things you smell and 1 thing you taste. It will help ground you and relieve stress.
Double weave saddle blankets work just as well. I sewed a few together to make a large blanket to go over my bed. It's not pretty, but its heavy. And you can find them for under $20 at most places.

I bought one for my son, he has high anxiety and would fight going to sleep. He loves it and stays asleep! Heck even my other son that doesn't have anxiety loves it.

I work in the field of developmental disabilities and we have seen high success rates with weighted blankets. We use to be able to utilize the weighted vests as well. There are a lot of studies on the calming effects of pressure, that weight causes, on people with autism, anxiety....

I would certainly give one a try!

I've been suffering severe anxiety for almost a year now and been given a prescription for Benzodiazepines for my medication. But i heard alot of people telling me that marijuana helps relieve anxiety but im not im not sure if its true so i came up to search something about this idea and came across this marijuana strain from https://www.bonzaseeds.com/blog/cheese-quake/ it says that i can discard all forms of stress and its euphoric buzz it delivers often is useful in combating anxiety and depression. I wanted to hear your thoughts about this guys and if you can give me any tips that can help me with my anxieties. Thank you!

We made a student one with a fishing vest. We put lead weights in all the pockets. Worked very well. We were told he could only wear it for 20 minutes at a time though.

I want to try one. We live in the Phoenix area and I have about 4 blankets on my side of the bed. Once I'm asleep, my husband tells me I kick all the covers off. I also don't sleep well at hotels, because I need the weight of the extra blankets.
