I saw some of it on the news this afternoon, I'm guessing the footage they were showing it must has just happen since there were a few people sitting on the ground with others standing over them, so darn horrible with this bridge just being open for a few days.. Have they said any more on how many did die? |

**** poor engineering i'm sure. If I was the architect or engineer, I would be getting a lawyer.... |

| I was wondering the same thing. I know how administrators constantly push to have minimal delays and traffic restriction on closures but by doing that it opens the to door to have incidents like this that unfortunately took peoples' lives. I cannot fathom why you would allow access to a bridge under construction and from looking at the drawings it is questionable that they had the structure even sound enough to remove the support since cables weren't tensioned yet. I sincerely hope that the engineers calc's are correct, the contractor constructed per plan, that all inspections were completed and material testing was adequate. I have a feeling we will find inadequacies in all aspects of this construction though.

Ny thoughts exactly. Makes me wonder if the architect, the builder, or the city will be held liable. If the structure wasn't sound from plans, If it wasn't sound from the building or materials, or if it was pushed to be open by the city. |
