Location: Somewhere around here | I'll be the odd man out. I really like mine. I've bought 3 in the past 6 months, first two were used then bought the one I really like this past month. My goal is eventually buying a Bob Marshall but something always seems to come up when I do have enough money to buy a used one that doesn't need repairs. First one was good but too big, then I bought a 15 which I really liked but I traded it for a nice Cactus barrel saddle, ended up hating the saddle. So I sold it and bought a Hilason from their site and I'm pretty happy with it. The only thing I wish I could change would be a higher perched front for higher withered horses. No it's not the prettiest one out there, it's much like a Basic Barrel From Original Bob Marshall site, but it's helped my horse a lot and I'm super comfortable in it. The leather is actually pretty nice and I'm not going to complain about it. I have owned a Tammy Fischer in the past and honestly I don't feel any difference between the leather quality of the Tammy and a Hilason. I didn't like the Tammy because it held me in too much and I'm able to move around more in the Hilason. It doesn't feel like it's going to fall apart, I can feel my horse move better, and my horse works better too. Here's a picture

How do the stirrups hang compared to your Tammy you had?
I just sold my Tammy and bought a cheap older Circle Y Bob, but the stirrups are WAY different and my feet want to get behind me, which I've never had that issue before.
I was thinking about selling it and buying a Hilason. I have one horse that needs a treeless, but he's semi-retired and doesn't get ridden much. So I don't want to spend much, but do want him comfortable when I do get to ride him. Which was why I bought the old beat up Circle Y, but the "feel" is just very very different to me. | |

I've ordered from her two times and she's very easy and nice to work with. I don't like forward hanging stirrups so these are perfect for me. I have to mention that I prefer the Hilason treeless saddles that are their main style, like the ones that look like Tammy's/Bob's/Jackie's instead of regular looking ones. I've never had a regular looking one, but I think I'll just stick with what I know and like. | |

My Tammy seems to keep my feet a bit in front of me...which I've gotten used to since I have strictly ridden in it for a few years. I can't remember how my old original Bob felt.

And it could simply be the fact that I've gotten so used to the other and just need to adjust to this one. I also need to do like you did and buy new, shorter straps bc I'm on the top hole and they need to come up more - which could be making the issue worse! | |

That's exactly how my Hilason is, it's on a rounded D as well. My feet tend to go a little back as well when I ride in the stirrup straps too long. So it definitely could just be you needing shorter ones. | |

You were right. They actually still had one hole left (hard to see with those buckles lol), took them up and it made a huge difference!!

You should be fine as long as you have a cut back pad. I know Bob Marshall offers a High wither relief treeless. Hilason may as well if you are wanting to go this route. In the past the leather and craftsmanship have been less than decent. I can't speak for the new ones... | |

You should be fine as long as you have a cut back pad. I know Bob Marshall offers a High wither relief treeless. Hilason may as well if you are wanting to go this route. In the past the leather and craftsmanship have been less than decent. I can't speak for the new ones...
Agreed. My horse had a broad back but higher withers, so he's been doing pretty good with a regular 5 star cut saddle pad. I'm contemplating on buying a saddle pad with a wither cutout, but I'm just guessing it depends on your horse. | |
