What do you guys do for horses that tend to get heavy on their front end? This horse tend to want to drop onto front end and get rough/4wd around the barrels. Any drills, excercises, ideas as to what may be going on?

Have you made sure he's not sore on his hind end? It could be something as simple as a sore sacrum...just a thought.
Is he heavy on the bit? Which is making him pull and get down on his front end? Or does he run in and then drop on front? Just need a little more back ground?
I don't think there is anything wrong with 4WD horses, both my mares are that way...Stingray is that way. Their legs never quit moving. But definitely wouldn't call them heavy on their front.

Most 4 WD horses I've had were actually very smooth around the turns unless they were hurting. I'd get an analysis done just to rule anything out before doing drills.

I would do a full lameness exam. If everything checks out maybe get a second opinion. If all is well I would say it's just this horse's prefered style.

If I don’t really drive my cutter bred little horse up in there and keep driving him, he won’t keep his hind end in gear and can get heavy in front. If I keep him moving he still gets low to work, but stays fluid and moving around the turn.
