He was recently purchased and moved to Canada. After being in his new home only a couple days, they found him with a shoulder fracture in his box stall. They made the decision to euthanize him. What a heart breaker!

Thank you.  We sold him to Jodie Neudorf in Canada late last summer.  She had recently sold him again to the folks that owned Sandy Ridge Stallion Station.  It was after his move there that he had his accident.  While I am saddened by all of this for obvious reasons, my heart goes out to Doug & Carol on such a tragic loss.  They are great people and I know that he was in the best care, and they did everything that they could for him.

He'd actually  been in Canada since late last summer but he'd just arrived at Sandy Ridge Stallion Station for the breeding season.  Such a horrific tragedy and I feel really badly for everyone involved.

Doug and Carol are some of the best people I know. I have dropped my mare off there without a worry. I lost a foal by one of their stallions due to a freak thing and Carol went out of her way to help me, even though she didn't have to.

I had planned to breed to Dazzler next spring. Such a loss :(

I'm so sad over this. I wanted another one so bad. Was hoping to have a filly by him someday. I have a super nice young colt by him that I adore-in my picture.

From the Sandy Ridge FB page...

Unfortunately last week’s Big News regarding FIREWATER FINALE turned tragic. After having him home for only 2 nights, we found him with a broken shoulder in his box stall on Saturday morning.

After a thorough exam by Dr Lockhart of Moore Equine, it was determined there was no hope to save him. An autopsy was done on the site, confirming that we had made the right call revealing a severely displaced fracture of the humerus and no obvious muscle bruising. We feel he must have just turned wrong in his stall – no other explainable reason.

We are saddened to have lost such an outstanding stallion and to have missed the opportunity to love him too.

Our condolences go to 4 Tress Farms whom we recently purchased FIREWATER FINALE from, and to Brett Borkowski and Amy Schimke who owned him since he was 2 years old until last fall. Amy rode him to his championships and would have had a personal connection to him that we will never know. Our heart breaks for you.

He was one I ALWAYS needed one by... I had plans for my youngster to hopefully breed to him. Such a heartbreaking loss. Prayers go out to everyone in his life. One of my favorite stallions of all time.

My heart is broken for the loss of this amazing stallion.
I am blessed to have a 5 year old colt by him that I swear was born broke and one the nicest horses I've ever swung a leg over.
What a loss.

My travelling partner works for Jodie Nuedorf at 4Tress Farms. We were at a big race in Ponoka when we got the news from Doug. Having been the person to handle Dazzler daily, my partner is completely crushed. Her heart is so broken. I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to see him a few times. He really was something else... had a presence like no other. My heart goes out to you Amy, as well as Doug and Carol and of course my travel partner. Another one lost too soon :(
