Ok, I'm planning to come south for some Derbies this summer and I'm just trying to get everything in order. How do I go about getting an SSN when I reside in Canada? I won Future Fortunes money last fall and they took a ton off because I was missing this... can any one point me in the right direction?

Thanks!!!

The SSN is for paying income tax on the money that you win. I am not sure that you have to pay income tax since you are not a citizen. I will goole some things and get back to you.

seems like you would need some kind of tax id number like a trust. I would think they would withhold a percentage for taxes.

You need an INCOME TAX IDENTIFICATION NUMBER and file income tax. You will get a refund of the tax that you paid in. Don't know how to get Tax Identification number. Try Internal Revenue Service

W-7 is the form. Go to irs.gov and enter w-7 in the search bar. Should find the form and instructions.
