| My world champion producing mare Honey Come On by Leaving Memories is bred to Sir Seth by First Down Dash for an early May foal.
My other Leaving Memories Daughter, Memories of Streakin is bred to a thoroughbred Graded Stakes winner, Lunarpal for a mid April foal.
My line bred First Down Dash mare is bred to a son of Frenchmans Guy for a mid May foal.
My This Snow Is Royal mare did not get bred because stallion owner continued to send shipments with NO semen. Vet said he had NEVER gotten shipments with nothing in them.

| We finally have a filly on the ground- mare usually foals at 335-337 days but held this one until 355. I was a nervous wreck!
Filly is by DASH TA FAME out of a producing BULLY BULLION/FWF mare. I can't wait to see what she does in her future!
Here's a look at her at three days old. This was taken within her first few minutes out of the stall. She knows she's special!

Good luck to everyone with foal watch- wishing you all a productive breeding season, as well!

AQHA has an entire book of rules and over half of it
is there to protect us lowly mare owners.
AQHA follows their procedures and are methodical ..
but when they find an abuser of their rules ...
they react in this fashion...

| I'll get this post back on track by posting about my foals!
We are expecting the first foals by our stallion and I cannot wait to see what we get. I bred a Rare Bar daughter, Letta Hank Do It daughter, and granddaughter of PC Fire N Smoak to Vitalio. The Rare Bar is at 344 days and is getting close. The PC mare is due at the end of April, and the LHDI at the end of May. This year I've already bred a daughter of Chasin Firewater to him, and the PC and LHDI will also go back to him. The Rare Bar is going to Red Storm Cat. |

I'm extremely excited! I've been raising foals for 13 years, but this is definitely special. We raised the stallion and are so impressed with him. And I've been building up my mare herd for quite some time. All of the mares we have are home raised, except for the PC mare. In the future I also have another Rare Bar, a Dashin Bye, and a Stoli that we hope to eventually cross on him.
I should admit that I'm also a little anxious, hoping that I've made the right breeding decisions over the years! All I can do now is wait and see what we get! |

Ha ha! I'm pretty sure it was something you said a while back that inspired me to go ahead and take this journey! I never really considered owning a stallion, but then all of a sudden we had this guy. And then, correct me if I'm wrong, I think you said something about not waiting until a stallion was proven, but instead to breed him to nice mares. We're in the process of proving our guy, but made the decision to go ahead and breed since we had these mares just standing around! |

I believe I did say that, I am not a huge believer in proving a stallion in the arena--too many variables come into play. Do your homework and choose a stallion wisely and then put the best mares under him you can get hold of. For us, much like you, we had the mares already in play before we even thought about having a stud and again, much like you, we raised most of our broodmares. SURE IS FUN AIN'T IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

due to the huge number of stallions available you may encounter
an owner that is in debt after buying and advertising their stallion,

that always have a dog fight going on amongst themselves, poor
caliber of semen, bad shipping procedures and countless other
issues that you have no control over.

I only have a cowhorse baby coming this year--but odds are it will get to run some barrels one day...
Buckskin Docs Lynx x Scottish Will bred mare is expecting a Hired Gun baby soon! She is at 331 days today. Started softening up a couple of weeks ago. My luck she's going to have it while we're at Hubby's convention next week.
My Goldfingers grand-daughter was supposed to have a Palo Duro Cat (bred the same day) but she lost it :(
So sorry about your foal---I don't know what it is about PDC but I just love him. Hopefully you can breed back to him. Good luck with your other little one that's coming. |

I did it a few times too. I've had so many IT issues getting it back online but maybe this year it will be fixed well for once. I have only been able to watch direct from home these past many foals. I'd love to have another insomniac help me!! One BB used to watch for me so I could catch a nap - she woke me up twice to head out quick that the foal was coming! |

I can verify this is exactly what happens! lol Its so fun to watch what they do during the day. Our camera is up 24/7, so prior to closing the barn door and locking the broodmare in, I could watch my barrel horses shenanigans when they were in the barn. |

LOL! TRUTH!!
Almost every mare every year will 'practice' many times. They will get to pawing, rolling, tail wildly swishing, kicking their belly, then go back to their hay and sleepily munch away the rest of the night. So YES -- I tend to be up for hours making sure it was only practice! |

I have one I can watch on my phone and there are cameras on the cows calving too. I work 12 hour nights and I’ve called my husband on his cows and he also got a call when my mare was foaling to get out there. My coworker joked that it’s not everyday you can watch a mare foaling in the hospital. |

| My maiden mare is still holding out. I thought for sure she would foal last night, she had quite a bit of wax and appears ready. Checked during the night, and still no baby. I'm sure she'll wait until the cold hits again tomorrow. Nothing says fun like dealing with a new foal with temps in the teens! Seriously, it's April, I thought we'd be fine foaling this time of year. |

Us too---we are going to start foaling in about a week and the weather is terrible here in Ohio. |

Our weather is bi-polar! It blows from the south at 20+ mph and warms up, then turns around the next day and comes from the north and cools us off. And then if we're lucky we'll get a day where the wind doesn't blow. I am so done with Kansas weather!
If she would foal today, or even early tonight, everything would be fine. If she waits until tomorrow or the next day it won't be fun. And if she could hold off until Sunday that would be great! Mares... I had every intention of foaling out in the pasture this year. No mares under lights, going back to the way nature likes things to be. But Mother Nature has lost her mind! Last year we had a blizzard on May 1st, so I guess there really is no good time to plan for these babies to hit the ground! |

The weather has been crazy everywhere this year. I mean seriously...who would think it would be 16 degrees in south central Texas? Not me! It was dang cold. |

Here in Utah we have had the most mild winter I can remember. Almost no snow all winter. Hopefully we get some rain or we are going to have a really dry summer. But It sure beats foaling in the snow. |

We moved to Texas in November and I was thinking..."yay, no cold and no snow this year"! Yeah, right. We dang sure got the cold, no snow thank goodness. Did get some freezing rain that shut everything down. Texans can't drive in that crap! BTW, Jenbabe had her first foal last night. Maybe she'll come on and post a pic for all of us! |

| Sorry guys, my mare did foal Friday morning, and between the crazy weather and our college rodeo going on I haven't had a chance to sit down and post an update, or even get good pictures! Let me see if I can figure out how to upload the ones I snapped from my phone. One is from at less than an hour old, the other is about an hour later after I got her walked into the barn and settled in. We got a bay filly with A LOT of chrome, just like her daddy! This poor gal saw all of the seasons in one day! Sun, wind, cold, and snow.
