Location: west of East Texas | I remember the days that Boston Mac was the ONE and then Te N Te shortly after. We bred to Te N Te and it was an awesome foal. Then it hit it's head at 14 months and died. My uncle bred to all the hot race horses back in the day and I used to hang on his fence and drool.
I grew up on a grandson of King on the top side and greatgrandson on the bottom side. That horse could read minds. From across the pasture. |

cloverleaf you just described my oldie to a Tee. I thought I was the only one that loved the Bert bred horses. She's Flit bar on top and Bert and Leo on the bottom 28 this year and can kick myself for not having a baby off of her If I could find another like her I would scoop it up in a heartbeat. My younger horse is a Dash for Cash/ Easy Jet totally different :) |

The best horse I've ever owned was an own son of Flit Bar Beggar. You could do anything horseback on him, and the more you used him, the better he got. When most kids I Jr. rodeoed again had a different horse for every event, we just changed saddles on ol' Siemon. I breakaway roped on him, ran poles, barrels, tied goats and headed on him. My dad occassionally had to use him for day work. He was so tough in our local area, that parents would pull their kids out of the youth class at jackpots if they saw us unload him, so we took to leavin him in the trailer until it was time to warm up. I wish I had a barn full just like him. I sold him after I went to college and he kept winning for another young girl until he was 26 years old. |

Location: Aubrey, Texas | I’m sorry it took me so long to respond- someone had to go get smelling salts and revive me because I fainted when I saw that pedigree. Holy Moly- what a bunch of good horses! Leo, Question Mark, Oklahoma Star, Hank H, King, Gay Bar King, San Sue Darks, Hollywood Gold, Three Bars- have mercy!
I remember Hanks Sue- I’m thinking either we had her for a while or Matlock did. Maybe Mr. Howell owned her? (she was bred to Leo San in 1957, 1959, and 1962, which would have been right)
I kept thinking “I need to ask Mother,” but I can’t.

Hey Clover - I can't resist showing this nice 2 yr. old colt we just bought. Dam goes back to Triple Chick (Sugar Bars & Three Bars) and Go Lindy Go :

Flit Bar Beggar was by Flit Bar and out of a granddaughter of Leo San Siemon. Junior Hudspeth raised him. It’s neat to hear your story of having to hide your horse in the trailer, lol!
Cloverleaf, if my memory serves me, E.J. Hudspeth was listed as the breeder and 1st owner on this horse's papers. We got him when he was 8 or 9 years and he'd been passed around a bit before we got him.
Do you remember what mare he was out of? Junior had some good mares-
Here's his pedigree: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/siemon+beggar+bars |

I'm not super well educated in lineage, but I know I get along with anything Peppy bred.
Looking through his pedigree (if the pics are accurate) and based off of pics alone, I really like how that Irishbar Bob looks if we're judging from farther back.
I'm mainly here to soak in the knowledge though |

Location: Aubrey, Texas | Ann Ward of Gainesville TX raised Flashy Star Bar. He was a really pretty, flashy red sorrel with some white on his feet. Nimble as a cat and smart as a whip. Ann wanted a Flit Bar stud to breed to her mares; they never broke him to ride. I can’t remember what mare he was out of and I’m not sure Allbreed has it right. I have found mistakes on there before, unfortunately.
Showdown Hoss was by Showdown, a good-producing King Ranch Stud. He was out of Panzarita Daughtery who was out of the great, great mare Panzarita. Elmer Hepler’s name was synonymous with famous early Quarter Horses.
I don’t know much about Lous Mccue but it looks like she came from the Burnett Ranch- (at least on her bottom side) also synonymous with good horses, especially around the Red River, Wichita Falls area.

Location: Carpenter, WY | My old mare is linebred Sugar Bars/Joe Reed II on the top with some golden oldies on the bottom. Still kicking, sway back and smart as a whip. http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/teehaha This pedigree is Dan's old head horse who we lost several years ago and goes waay back. He was definitely one in a million. Big, black with 4 white feet. Could pull a barn down and was disappointed when you wouldn't let him LOL. A big pussycat on the ground but a work ethic and heart second to none. Linebred Eddie on the top with a bunch of Legends on the bottom http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/eddie+pep
I love the old working lines. Brains, bone and heart :)

ahhhhh...thank you :) At her age we just keep all the gates open from the different areas and she wanders wherever she wants to go. Dan is religious about giving her the mush bucket twice a day with shredded beet pulp and total equine. I wonder how long she will last?

But my all time favorite so far is Goldfingers. I've have two grand-daughters--both of whom have been the best horses I've ever had as far as trainability and athleticism. They were full sisters. I still have one of them, 22 this year who I want a baby from so badly and she's not cooperating. And I buried the other one way too young. |
