Depends on how dirty!
Sometimes I'll use their cleaning sponge, sometimes I'll use a pressure washer (being careful not to get too close!
I've not tried their soap stuff.

I never liked the sponge it came with.

I use a rubber curry in-between rides to work off dirt and hair. Once or twice a year, I take the pressure washer to it along with gentle detergent. I know they say you’re not supposed to do that but I haven’t had any problems in the 6 years I’ve started using 5 Star pads.

I use a cury comb to get the salt and hair off. I have never washed mine with water. I have owned it now for 8 years. I don't like their sponges, they crumble when I use mine.

I use a curry comb/sponge, depending on how dirty it is, to get all the hair and dirt loose. I then put some Woolite and a splash of water in the bad areas and then let is soak for 15 minutes or so. Finally, I thoroughly rinse everything out using a water hose with a nozzle (not a pressure washer). I let it hang to dry which can take a while it is cool out or if there is a lot of humidity.

Does the Woolite seem to work good for you? I have a black pad and 2 nathrual pads and I haven’t felt it got any of them clean.

I clean my Saddleright pads once a year after the horses shed off.
I hang them on a gate and just use our hose along with a curry. Over the wet winter I fought a lot of rainrot, so this year I used dawn (VERY diluted with water - don't want to have any residue) and mixed in Chlorhexidine solution to make sure any remaining bacteria was killed and wouldn't reinfect anyone since they're all cleared up now.

I was having a little bit of a problem with the Woolite when I just applied it, hung the pad, and washed right away. When I started doing a spot soak for the areas where the sweat had built up for 15 minutes or so minutes it helped quite a bit. I also really try to not let them get really dirty. I have one of the brown pads and when I start to see the white sweat patches form, I will work really hard to wash it within a week or so so the build up is not thick.

On the 5 Star website they had a UTube video on how to wash their pads when they get exceptionally dirty. I had good luck using their method. You hang the pad. ( I tied mine on a wire fence where I could leave it to dry for a day or 2) Then using a garden hose, spray from the top to the bottom until the water dripping off the bottom turns clear. I used a very small amount of Oxyclean with a soft brush and they came out great.

I just cleaned one this afternoon. 1.5 hours!!!!! I thought my arms were going to fall off from currying. So I promptly ordered BOT liners.

A friend of mine told me that she uses a vacuum with the bristle roller on her CSI pads.  I tried it on my wool & fleece pads and it worked really well.  I was impressed!

Everytime I ride I take a firm bristle grooming brush and scrub/brush it clean... doing that daily has really saved my pad and it still looks new. I don't get build up on my pad.  When you do it daily it take a couple of seconds.....
