What is the best most cost effective stall footing...We are all sand and I love that I don't have to worry about my stalls getting wet, but would like to cut down on the dust. Part of me wants to put down some type of mat, but then I love the low maintenance of the sand.
I think sand is by far the best. It is most cost effective, and easy to clean. The only thing that might cause less dust would be pelleted bedding but it is not near as cost effective.

How do you keep your stalls from smelling like ammonia from their urine?
It just kinda dries up. When I’ve had to have one stalled Especially a mare I have put cheap kitty litter in the pee spots. Just make sure it’s the non-clumping kind. My mare is real bad with pee at shows. She pees in one spot so it puddles. We use some stuff I think is called Stall Refresh or something like that.
