The fight to raise the GVWR is raised... From 26.001# to at least 48.000# needs to continue...

| I didn't get anything out of the article about a CDL. This is about the issue of forcing drivers to stop after they have been driving 8 hours. AQHA and other livestock organizations felt that stopping and letting horses stand in a trailer for hours while the driver "rests" is detrimental to health of the horse. |

I bet you are still going to need your CDL and Health card if you run out of state. I bet before it is all said and done the only thing that they are going to let us get out of is the instalation of the actual electric recording device.

That’s not practical though.... on days I haul 1 horse I’d be underweight. On days I haul 4 head plus stuff for a 3 or 4 day stay I might need a CDL.

So....when you’re pulled over on the side of the road how is the DOT suppose to know you pinky swore??? Or you never ever put enough in your trailer to go over?
I don’t disagree that kind of sucks in this instance that little trailers are often built on the same size axles as bigger trailers which gives them a higher GVWR than they’ll ever practically load - but I’m not sure there’s another options that is practical and consistent across all sectors that haul trailers...my gross weight is very different on my end up trailer if I’m hauling rock, sand, posts, equipment, full loads, half loads, etc. my GVWR stays the same. |
