Location: South Georgia | For sore soles after a farrier trim, would it hurt to wrap the hooves with epsom poultice (gel consistency) and Magic cushion? For the past 4 days I have given bute and applied venice turpentine, but he's still ouchy.

Location: Illinois | I have one that's barefoot and has thin soles & I use Durasole on him. Seems to work really well for him. I just do it once a day for 4 days after trim & then once every few days after that. You could probably just do it for a couple days & then stop for yours |

| I have used Jim Rickens with decent success in the past, as well as Magic Cushion. There is a product available called hoof armor that I am hearing good things about too. Do you have any boots that you can put on him? |

| Rickens is great stuff. Had better results with it than dura sole. Magic Cushion is also great product but can be a little messy. My vote is Rickens. Oh, almost forgot, might ask your vet about previcox/Equioxx pills instead of bute. I had a horse off the track with thin soles and I would give the equioxx couple days before a trim, and keep him on it a week usually. Thats how long it took for him not to be sore. Previcox/Equioxx is much safer and easier on them than bute for long term.

Location: South Georgia | I purchased the epsom poultice and the magic cushion yesterday. My plan was to apply a little epsom, pack with magic cushion, and wrap in diaper with vet wrap and duct tape. |

Location: South Georgia | Think there is any harm in using both, I suppose is what I am asking? A little of the green goo (epsom poultice) and then pack with cushion. |

Location: mi | I personally just use the Magic cushion. If you wrap it good it will go about 48 hours and then I don't usually have to wrap again that is generally long enough to get them back to feeling good. |

Location: Claremore, OK | I put magnetic bell boots on a mare that got trimmed too short. They helped a bunch !
I also highly recommend Magic Cushion. I just pack it in and cover with brown paper (like a paper bag cut square).
As long as they’re in a stall or small dry pen, it will stay in their foot without a wrap. |
