What brand/type of saddle(s) to you compete in for both barrels and breakaway. Do you have a saddle for each event, or do you use one for both. Just curious to hear what people are using.
I rope in roping saddles and run barrels in barrel saddles. The fenders on a roping saddle are stiffer and less free swinging, so they tend to be easier to stay up and rope in. Plus it’s a whole lot easier to have separate saddles when you run barrels and rope off of different horses.
When I was in HS I had a Billy Cook "ladies all around" that I LOVED. I roped (or tried to LOL) and ran barrels in it.
It was lighter made than a typical roping saddle, but plenty sturdy enough for breakaway.

I rope in a Three Forks rope saddle and it has made a huge difference in my roping. I have roped out of my barrel saddles but I don't stay in position like I do in my roping saddle. I use different saddles for the different events.
