I am having trouble keeping my saddle from sliding back. I have to get off several times when i'm riding and move my saddle up and tighten my saddle. I have a 5 star pad. Does anyone have suggestions on what is wrong? My horse is round with very little withers.

Where are you placing your saddle? It doesn’t matter if it’s too big or too small, the rotation of their shoulder blade will also push it back bc it needs clearance. Although like the other posters stated, too narrow of a saddle will also do that. Pics would be best of just your saddle with no pad.

I'm putting the saddle right on top of his wither's. i'll have to take a pic tonight of saddle on horse without pad and post. the pad is 1 inch. is there a way to measure on your horse how big your saddle gullet needs to be for that horse? thank you for thoughts.

Not seeing pictures...but 1” in a 5 Star on a round horse is way too much IMO. If your saddle does fit well without the pad I reccomend going as thin as possible and trying a 1/2” 5 Star. This is what I am riding my beefcake colt in with my regular tree jeff smith until I can get a wide tree - because I know that day is coming.
Setting right on top of the withers will depend on the way the tree is made, our rope saddles work in this position. My barrel saddle is made to sit behind the shoulder blade. It’s quite possible yours is too and it’s just sliding back to where it “wants” to be.

This. I personally do not recommend a 1" 5 Star to my customers. If they are set on that, then that is their choice. I am thinking your probably have caused a too tight fit & it's all pushing back.

I think a 1" is just too thick unless your roping and need the support. My one gelding my Deb Sibleys will slide back on him I have a reg. tree and a wide tree and they both slide back on him and no matter the pads I have have tryed different pads on him still the same I think the bar angels are all wrong in the Debs for him. All my other saddles fit great except the Debs.. I would try a thinner pad under your saddle to see if that makes a different on the sliding back.
