CanCan - 2018-06-19 9:36 PM Working in deep dirt? Massage and find the cause.
Soreness up high in the ham string = stifles Soreness from mid to low of ham string = hock soreness
Massage then stretch for thirty seconds. You can do a series of ROM with the hocks that will release the ligaments around (very Minimal movements) and those will often times help the lower hamstrings. Now, if your having joint issues as the preceiptating factor inject the joints and put out the fire or you set up a vicious cycle. Dr. Green has always helped too! As in turn out. for a few weeks with icing of the joints if you can. Deep pressure massage is needed at pressure points or if you can sarapin injection with that to get things calmed down.

I should probably give more back ground with the sore hamstrings. My mare had sore hocks, I injected her a month ago. She was still not right and showing signs of soreness so I brought her back to the vet to be looked at. Hocks felt good, but we did discover that I had a saddle fit problem. My vet also drew some blood and we found out her vitamin E was really low. So now I have her on liquid Vitamin E (elevate I believe), I also changed saddles. I had her chiro'd and a looked at by a massage. She is better, but still sore in her hamstrings. I'm looking into how to help her get better. I know the vitamin E will help but it takes awhile to get levels up.
Edited to say, she is always turned out. Plenty of green grass too.
