What sunscreen do y’all use on your horses and how do you keep it on? And if one is already semi burnt on the nose, can you put aloe on it?

I use the Equate lotion from Walmart, but any waterproof lotion at high SPF will work. And, yes, Aloe is okay to use. Since I bring my horses in during the day to avoid sunburn, usually put it on in the evenings when they go out ~ 5 p.m.. If out all day they would need an application morning and probably again at noon -- most sunscreens recommend reapplying every couple of hours. I have also used fly masks that have the long nose cover and they have worked well.

Depending on your horse, you could get the Walmart spray kind and they might make it a little easier. Aloe is always ok ^_^

Baby butt cream (desitin) - slather it on, the zinc is the active ingredient (in sun screen too) that will prevent further sunburn while the rest of the cream will heal the blisters and burned skin.

We buy the cheapest off brand stuff and use it liberally on noses in the summers.

I have some Coppertone face spf 50 sunscreen I didn't like. I slather it on their nose and it works just fine.

I don't see why you couldn't put aloe or vinegar on it.
