My mare is a bleeder!!!! A friend of mine told me to look into essential oils to try and help with her bleeding. What are some blends y’all are using and what’s in them. Some lady tried to sell me a 16 oz bottle for $45 at the last race I went to. I own my own oils so I want to make a blend my self but I’m curious to see what blends other people have tried!

The oils will not make her stop bleeding so is there another reason/ goal you feel she needs the oils?

The oils may help with opening airways and the respiratory side of it but I really doubt it will prevent bleeding. You need to address that with lasix or there are a couple supplements that work very well. I prefer EquiPulmin, you can contact me for more details.

I’m not looking for prevention. I’m looking for something to help. I use strips and she is on supplements. I’ve tried a nebulizer And did nothing. I have used the oils before and they helped lessen the amoubt of blood but it was a blend I borrowed from a fellow barrel racer.

I have a bleeder, I tried every supplement under the sun, lasix was the only thing that stopped the bleeding. Reducing the bleeding is not good enough if you are continuing to run her. There was a good post on FB shared by a very experienced owner, her horse never bled out, her health started to tank, she had been a minor bleeder, developed a lung infection and by the time it manifested into symptoms that effected her health it was too late to help her and she was euthanized. I have my bleeder scoped every year to check his lungs, he runs on 3 ccs of laisxis given in the muscle 2 hours out.

The oils may help open her airways, but the only thing to prevent bleeding is having them in EXCELLENT shape and Lasix to lower the pulmonary pressure by reducing the blood fluid volume. Hands down that's the "magic cure."

I didn't see mentioned above that you were looking for a "cure-all" or something to replace or eliminate other medicines... I have had really good luck placing a couple of Eucalyptus drops in my Flexi-Neb Mixed with Saline prior to my runs.... I referenced the medicine chart for dosage amounts...
