After a three year long break and some time for both of us to mature, I finally have my mare legged back up to almost ready-to-haul shape. She's eight years old and vet/chiro checked sound. I've barely run her since her 5yo year. She's a heck of a lot more powerful now, jumping from 3d to 2d times with a lot of room to clean up her pattern. All of our old headgear is just not quite cutting it with the way she has been firing lately. Before I had to lay her off, I would tune in a loomis-type square gag with a twisted wire dog bone mouth and run her in a twisted wire o-ring with a headsetter tie down. Now, I'm at a loss. She's a very light, bendy, catty catty mare. She's gotten entirely too bendy in the draw gag and too strong for the o-ring. She's been getting a little strung out at her rate points and losing her hind quarters. I need something that will get her attention, stiffen her up a hair, and get her sitting on her butt again.

I've used the Pozzi short shark lifter as well as the Pozzi combo ring bit and both were too harsh for her. I was looking at potentially the Ed Wright Pretzel bit or this bit http://www.thetackstop.com/bitr713.htm

She just needs something to rate her down and keep her front end elevated during her turn.
