| I'm looking at buying a slow feed hay net and was wondering if anyone used the Freedom Feeder nets. Pros, cons, do they hold up to wear and tear? Looking at buying the 1 1/2" net. Is this a good size for every day use? Thanks! |

I've had my freedom feeders for about a year and a half. I have the heavy duty net and they have held up well. My gelding plays with his net and my colt liked to rub on the hay when molting. They have not needed any repairs, and my mouthy gelding can't get the latch open which has been nice. I pull hay off of a round bale and stuff the feeders, but when filling in from a square bale it's about a 1/2 bale or more per net. |

Location: Illinois | I haven't used them, but I highly recommend the Hay Chix nets, mine are all several years old & have been passed around from older horses to colts that play. And there's always a 20% off code around here somewhere, which makes them a lot more affordable. I have the regular slow feed and the heavy duty and both have held up pretty equally. I don't have any that have broken strings or anything yet |

| So what size hole do you have on the hay nets? |

Location: Illinois | I have the 1 3/4" ones as well as the 1 1/4" ones, just depends on what I'm doing. When I'm home & outside I let them have the bigger opening, but if they're stalled or I'm on the road I use the smaller to keep them busier longer. Even with the bigger opening it still takes them around 2 hours to eat 2 flakes, where if I feed them without it those 2 flakes are gone in about 20 minutes. Here's a 20% off code if you're wanting to order from them:
