We are looking at adding this broodmare to our herd, and I am hoping to get some suggestions on good stallions to breed her to. She's been a broodmare for most her life, and from the few foals I've been able to track down, they're good, solid ranching/using horses. We would want to continue breeding her to produce not only dependable ranching horses, but also ones that can compete in the arena (team roping, breakaway, tie down, etc.). So far the only flag is that her shoulder is a little steeper than I find ideal, not a deal breaker to us though.

We were hoping to add some height (she's probably 14.3 or so). She's got a great mind, calm and quiet to be around. We are thinking along the lines of:
-Irish Pay (Paddys Irish Whiskey x Raise the Pay by Preferred Pay)
-Jesses Topaz (Mr Jess Perry x Paddys Topaz by Paddys Irish Whiskey)
-CS Flashlight (Royal Quick Dash x Easanon by Marthas Six Moons)

Thoughts or other suggestions? Thanks!

ETA: sorry the pictures aren't the greatest, the current owners snapped them quick for my husband to show me.

I'd look at San Peppy Drift from the Solid Foundation Ranch. Those are smart, built, great ranching horses.

I actually came across him and their other stud last night, he sure does throw some nice foals! I’m not seeing on their website if he’s still standing st stud, he’s 24- I might have to give them a call and see. Thank you!

You need to find a mare or two and keep your favorite bloodlines going D! I'm trying to decide how foundation I want to keep these foals, or if I want to branch out and add some more running blood..

I definitely spend way too much time researching bloodlines and planning potential future babies

I study cow bloodlines and (especially) foundation breeding---and I don't even breed!!!! Our one mare, if I ever did breed her, would have a date with a Haidas Little Pep son. (They've actually had a date for 3 years now, but I keep grounding her each spring right before!!! Just can't pull the trigger. . . . )

I know whatever you choose will be a wonderful pairing---good luck with your new girl

When/if you finally pull the trigger, you will have to keep us all informed!! And thank you, I hope she will be a good one for us!
