| Hi - So my new horse needs some weight put on him. He also needs his topline and muscle built up (he’s been out to pasture for about a year). I’m going to feed rice bran (RG or Max E glo depending on TSC), alfalfa pellets, and vitamin/mineral supplement. I’ve also heard great things about Dac Oil specifically Cool Gut. Any one have experience with this supplement? Will it be overkill with the rice bran for omegas?
What are some good ground excercises to start getting his top line built back up?
Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions regarding getting him blooming and fit again?

| My horse is not picky, but he wouldn’t touch his feed if I put Cool Gut in it. But I don’t think that’s meant for putting bloom on them.
I add Omeg Horseshine and I feel it helps my horses look good.
Lots of good quality grass and hay, and you probably won’t need much else.
Edit - I was just scrutinizing my gelding and his topline isn’t great. I’m going to try Purina Supersport.

Location: MN | Collection is key for topline. Backing, walking hills, more backing. MVP Exceed 6 way gave me great results with my guy when he lost his topline due to Anaplasmosis. Hes been on it for years now and looks fantastic. Good luck with your new guy! |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | I have never had trouble puting a good top line on horses when I got one that was a little poor, I would just put them on a good healthy diet, I always use Bluebonnet feeds and now I use a feed from Triple Crown now since Bluebonnet mills it for them, I use the Lite feed from Triple Crown for my one gelding that has is Insulin Reistance. I dont have my horses on any kind of supplement for building a top line the good diet is all they need. They all have a awesome top line, good feed good hay and plenty of fresh water. And they do get pasture time during the day so they move around alot, I dont believe in keeping one stalled up they cant develop any muscle being stalled up.

| I swear by the DAC Oil, but if you want to build topline quickly, the Bloom and Oil work wonders together! I've had a lot of horses some in lacking weight and muscle and it was amazing the transformation! The Bloom is like a protein shake. |

| Get a good amino acid supplement to build muscle and a fat supplement for needed calories then work your horse over ground poles and long and low. You need to strengthen the back muscle on order to build a top line. Get your horse stretching and working over his back. Your horse should not be ridden with his head up in the air and his back hollow. |

Location: South Georgia | I have always believed that topline is based on muscles developing from collection, and I still do......but, I will say that my horse has been on MVP Exceed 6-way for 4 weeks now and his topline has really improved with very little riding (its a million degrees here). |
