Because it seems small and others, who aren't horsey, don't necessarily understand I thought I'd share my excitement here. I was finally blessed with my free cowhorse a year ago. I started riding him more this summer and hit some road blocks with his feet, him wanting to buck if I made him do something he didn't want, etc..
Anyway, been getting him back in shape the past month. I've been riding him bareback to challenge myself and get my balance. We've been taking things slow and easy and this morning I finally felt comfortable and confident enough to let him canter bareback in an open field! It felt wonderful and so natural. My balance is sooo much better making myself do this. If you feel like your's is off try doing this. Then you feel like super man in the saddle. Haha.
And after a bridle change back to a bitless/sidepull type bridle from a snaffle, he's responding so much better and we tried loping the barrels last night and it wasn't the prettiest thing in the world but he loped consistently/constantly with no fight.
Feeling pretty great and looking forward to what the future has in store for us. So happy we're clicking a lot more! Feel free to share your recent accomplishments too
ETA: Loped barrels for the first time* he's in the making!
