Shin Splints

Regular Posts: 93	Anybody have experience with a young horse having shin splints? Any lamesness/soundness issues? I looked at a 2 1/2 year old that has splints. Not sure if I want to purchase him with this issue. He has no lameness but you can see them and feel them on each leg. Not sure if they will be an issue down the road when he is ridden or competed on later in life. Any advice would be helpful.

Regular Posts: 93	They are high up on the cannon bone and have been there about 8 month or so. He was worked in a round pen that had hard ground last year.

A Somebody to Everybody Posts: 41354 Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas	Is the horse sore when you press on them, do they have any heat? The only thing that would bother me if they stick out and the horse hits them with the other leg, then that would be a problem.
