Location: Mississippi | Has anyone used the shoulder relief cinch out now (Total Saddle Fit is the one I'm looking at)? I'd like some reviews. Did it help with saddle fit? Could you tell a difference? At around or over $100, it is definitely cheaper than a new saddle, but if it doesn't really make a difference, I'd rather not waste the hundred... TIA |

Location: South Dakota | I have one and like it, however, I don't think it is any better than any good quality cinch... I think it enhances the fit of a well fitting saddle, but don't think it would actually fix the fit of one, that is not fitting well. |

Location: Mississippi | I feel like my horse's shoulders are not getting to move as freely as they should. Just wondering if it really does free up the shoulders. |

If your saddle is not fitting I really dont think a shoulder relief cinch is going to fix that for you, is that what it says on the ad that it will fix saddle fit? I would look at how my saddle is fiting with difference thickness of pads first, sometimes a good pad with the right thickness will make a world of difference in how a saddle is fitting. |

Location: Illinois | I use one and it has pros and cons. I'm used to an alpaca cinch so I have always been able to use my leg/heel/spur on top of the cinch and get my point across. You can't with the leather and it does feel bulky. I have all 3 liners and switch them out on certain horses. The placement of where this one is actually covers one of my "buttons" so I had to take some time to retrain my horses and myself to put my foot in front or behind it. My 4 year old was really downhill for awhile and while she was the saddle would slip forward, this cinch kept it in place until she leveled out again. The saddle fits her well when she's actually level. I don't know if I would ever order another one, I can't tell a difference in shoulder freedom so far. I get more shoulder freedom after a visit from my musculoskeletal specialist than I do with a cinch |

| I've been using the Shoulder Relief Cinch for 2 months now, and I love it! It really does free my horses shoulder up. I have the felt backing and I love it! Super easy to clean, the leather is great and it's well made. I'm glad I bought one, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. |

| I have one, but I have not noticed any difference compared to my other high quality cinches. |

Location: the land of dust & sticks | We borrowed one to try on a mare that had gotten real sore. I don’t see that it frees up the shoulders or holds your billets in any different position like they claim. However, my point for this mare was to get off the structures that were sore and it did do that. |

Location: SoCal | I bought one and really like it on my mare with no withers. She's like sitting on a barrel, and my saddles would always end up on her neck it seemed. Which was not fun when trying to sit a turn on her... Lunging her I can visually see the difference, saddle doesn't get dragged forward like it did before. I don't really see it changing billet position either, but it did free up this mare's shoulders and keep the saddle from moving forward. I would buy another, currently have the fleece but will be adding the felt and neoprene liners soon. I'll probably try all 3 liners before buying another full cinch because of how expensive they are. I want more cushion than the fleece provides, since even with frequently hosing it off, it gets packed down and looses some of it's "squish". None of mine have galled/sored at all though.
I will say if your horse has normal or tall withers, I'm not sure how much the cinch would help compared to an open wither saddle pad or something like that. I paired my shoulder relief cinch with an SPH pad and like the combo. It helped my saddle stay where it was supposed to and therefore fit, but if your saddle is already in the correct position and still not fitting, not sure if it'll work.
Tip, they're on sale this weekend at Riding Warehouse ;) |
