In the September Barrel Horse News in the Youth Rodeo Roundup Karsyn Daniels wins National Junior High School Finals Rodeo. Her horse was bred by a friend. Melinda Schexnaider of Shreveport is the breeder. A big congratulations to Melinda.
Carly Ricdardson’s horse DoDa Flit is another horse that came from a local breeder.
The point is don’t overlook your local small breeders who are getting some outstanding horses out there.

I knew I recognized the M on her horses shoulder from somewhere! Merill O Neal and Trena Greer are some other local breeders who have produced some winners. Lets also not forget the Kay/Rafferty family who bred and raised Pistoletta (LK Watch Me Rock) Multiple futurity and rodeo money earner and qualifier to the 2014 NFR.

Yes the Kays have had superior horses for at least 40 years. Samantha Lynes horse came from them (may have been Pistoletta

Melinda Schexnaider is a class act!!! And she boy can she ride! She does have some incredible horses, especially the Eddies Dash she currently is riding.
Another sort of local horse I can’t wait to see some hit the barrel pen belongs to DSK, Dewey Kendrick. I think the Doda horse mentioned above was out of his stallion he lost a few years back, DO DA DASH I think.
The pedigree on the stallion they currently own, First Prize Doc is downright unbelievable.
The colts are hitting the track now and boy are they proving themselves to be downright deadly fast!
