| We sure have lost some great ones in the past year...
From Kassidy: As many have heard by now, I am sadly sharing with you the passing of one of the finest barrel racing horses I was blessed with and had the pleasure of completing on at many, many rodeos across the USA and Canada. Sierra Hall of Fame, AKA Eagle (Ats'a - Navajo name for Eagle) had a severe injury that led to his passing over this Labor day weekend. Our rodeo and barrel racing world is small so I'd like to thank each and every one that has reached out already. Thank you for your kind words you've sent out to both Eagle and I. Eagle was definitely a spiritual horse in many ways. He was the horse that brought hope and inspiration to so many people across the world, especially my indigenous brothers and sisters. He is the lone horse that earned me my first NFR qualification. I remember the day my mom Debbie made a call to Dena Kirtpatrick that I was looking for a horse. We looked and looked (as every barrel racer knows the struggle) and on a cold wintery day we flew to Indiana and met the most beautiful wild acting horse I have ever seen or been around. It was that love at first sight moment. Eagle then spent about two years in Post, Texas with the Kirtpatrick family and I. The first rodeo I ever entered on him was Clovis NM High School Rodeo. The rest is history. Last year I decided that I wanted more for Eagle, that he needed to do what he really enjoyed, running barrels and I came across one of the nicest familys, the Collier's from Herford TX. The Collier's decided to try Eagle so I took him to Texas. Kelly and Eagle fit like a glove, like it was meant to be. Their first competition run together was again at the first arena I completed on Eagle, in Clovis NM. The rest is history. On that note I'd like to thank Kelly and her family for welcoming Eagle into there family and taking care of him in every way possible. So today I ask each of you to go out and give your animals a big hug maybe extra treats, because you never know what God has in store for us. #flylikeaneagle #flyinghigh @ Tohatchi, New Mexico |

I'm pretty sure she mentioned Dena Kirkpatrick.
I was so sad to hear his passing! He had such a cool style and I loved watching him run. Now he's running in the sky. |

| How devastating. The barrel race in Heaven is one tough pack of horses. It definitely makes us grateful for the amazing horses we have. |
