One of my saddles has the start of a small tear on the fender, above the stirrup hobble where it twists. It's roughout and pliable, but it's been well used over the course of the years. I'd rather not replace it, especially with the rest of it being nylon backed, it would cost a fortune. We're talking a tear of around 1/4" at most, don't think it's even that long. Has anyone ever used glue to repair a saddle, I emailed the local leather shop, but wondered if something I could pick up cheaper at a craft store would work. Anyone have experiences?

I would just take it to a saddle repair or shoe repair and get that tear sewed up so the tear wont get any longer. Have a patch put on the back of it. I did this to a used saddle that I bought

If I am reading your post correctly, that "tear" could become a safety issue and I sure wouldn't want it to be held together with "Glue" ..... Take it to the saddle repair shop and have them sew a patch behind the tear.
