I am wanting an arena at my house and am looking to have someone come in and remove the topsoil and bring in some dirt for me to work horses. My question is for those that have done this did you just fill up a patch of earth? How well did this drain? If you did haul in dirt what was your initial depth? I was quoted 6” but I felt that seemed deep? Any and all suggestions welcome! I’m in central Texas with pretty rocky black thick and slick soil. What type of soil did you bring in?

Why remove the topsoil?   We just worked it up and fenced it in.  We have plain old black dirt here.
