so my horse has a angry bone on the outside of her left pastern. We injected it Friday after a ultra sound (she must of banged the heck out of it) and keep her fairly quiet for 60 days. However she was never lame sore and or no scars. my vet says surgery really isn't an option where its located..... Just wondered if anyone had any experience. She injured that leg different side and area almost 3 years ago......got it healed up xrays and all decided to breed her and give her extra time off.. anyway I don't know how long she has had it................I'm hoping we can calm the bone down but I'm not feeling real hopeful............
Just wondered if anyone else had anything like this.......

I have never heard that term but I had a horse bruise the bone bad enough our vet thought the injured bone may die off and have to be removed. We kept him on SMZ-TMP tabs for 30 days then re-xrayed and he was fine.

thankyou. they explained it too me but I guess it was above my head..............I just heard she wasn't a surgery candidate because of the location and too many tendons. He said sometime they can do surgery and clean the bone up........the term they used was angry bone though.....just patiently waiting for 60 days.........

IDK what that means either. It sounds like to me something happened that caused a periosteal reaction, like blunt trauma or something. And if they go in there and scrape on it it could make it worse. But that's my best guess.
