I went last year and have entered for this year too....Did the original owners sell this event? It seems not nearly as organized as last year, mainly communications, draws ect. Just wondering?

We stayed at the Orleans last year for the NFR so we decided to go watch this race for a while and I was not impressed at all. Not many spectators, no energy in the arena and the ground was very dry and witnessed at least 10 horses in the time we were there slipping and 2 went down completely. It has the potential to be great but I wont go unless some changes are made. JMO

The info flyer is very unclear also between 5D, 4D youth american idk I had to "study" the flyer to see what races were what. It looks like it could be really fun but IDK I will wait before putting up that kind of money.

I went the first 2 year for the first race both years. The first year was pretty great, the ground was good and they seemed to have good communication throughout the year to those entered, plus it was well organized. They also had the cowboy xmas shopping there instead of at the convention center, so there were more spectators. The only thing I did not like was how slummy that part of town was, it was pretty scary walking back to the hotel room at night time lol. The second year (last year) they were horrible with communication to those of us entered and didn't seem to be as organized. The ground... I wasn't impressed at all! My horse is very good with crappy ground and didn't fall but she slipped both rounds pretty bad. I know some people bashed a lot of us for expressing our concerns, BUT when you pay that kind of money for a 5D barrel race you are expecting pretty great things. That's just my 2 cents. I'm taking this year off and hopefully they change some things.

Wish it could be at South Point, but that's where the roping is. Still bummed I'm not going.
