I have had an awesome offer to escape Indiana and move to Columbus, TX next spring and I was wondering if anyone has been there, lived there, or ran in a close proximity to there? Just interested in knowing what the area is like. I am making a trip in Feb to get a look at everything and then moving in May.

Nice area. Has more men per capital than anywhere in the US because there is one prison after the other. Should be a lot of barrel races in the area. Very flat country. The only thing that would bother me would be the hurricanes. These days you should have plenty of warning to get out. There are a lot of really neat towns in that area to visit and they always have something going on.

It's a great area, close to a lot of good barrel races. Also, there's a really good equine vet who lives in Columbus ( F9 Equine, Dr Fitzgerald) and he just hired four of my classmates between the equine hospital and the mixed animal clinic... so you'd be in great hands as far as vets go!

Columbus is flat! Wow I live close and it’s not flat. Go further towards the coast and it’s flat but not there. And the effects of Hurricanes is not that bad at all that far from the coast. Just make sure your home is not in area where the river floods. Really nice friendly town!
