I'm "feed shopping" for my gelding (12 years old) and wondering if anyone else who has a cribber (windsucker) feeds anything special (feed or supplement) and has seen a difference.
I have a mare that is a cribber. i have no pasture. she is on free choice alfalfa all the time, all year round. I feed triple Crown feed, but rarely It is the excellent quality hay that keeps her looking good.
I own a mare that has cribbed for at least 6 years that I know of. I fixed her ulcers, pain & paranoia and she still does it without a collar (turned out). I feed her Triple Crown Senior. I don’t think it has affected her cribbing in any way but with her nerves, age, and being 1/2 TB she can be a hard keeper under stress. The TC Senior has been a God sent.
Thanks!! I'll look into that feed. My gelding is turned out 24/7, not a huge field, but has free choice in pasture. I feed twice a day grain and square bales. We've treated him with gastroguard (and still do during show weekends), but he's still anxious at shows and cribs at home. I was looking into something with more gastric support just in case he needs more than just show weekends...
