I had posted this on Facebook but figured I'd share it here. Some may know this story and some may not. As a 3 year old Sun Frost got injured and got a sucker rod post up through his gaskin. Pat Cowan sent his young son Tigh to get the 30-30 and Tigh and his siblings came back begging their dad not to do it and that they would doctor the horse. Could Mr. Cowan in his wildest dreams imagined the impact that decision had on so many. There are 8 horses competing this year at the NFR in barrels that are Sun Frost descendents---what a huge impact indeed.
Apparently he was what the barrel horse industry needed as an outcross. I've been so impressed by the quality of the horses at the NFR this year. Most want to work and are so honest.
